I’ve come a long way. So can you.
My story:
I was born in a sleepy fishing town on the East coast of South Africa, but mostly I grew up in Cape Town. I spent a lot of time outdoors, in the ocean and climbing mountains. My youth was punctuated with much personal upheaval, but eventually I managed to graduate from Africa’s top university, the University of Cape Town with a BSc in Psychology and Oceanography. In 2004 I moved to the UK and began a new life here.
Much of my early career was spent in the IT & Telecoms sector, precipitated by the dotcom boom. I spent over a decade working for large FTSE-listed corporates before taking a career break to do a Master of Business Administration at Cranfield University. Thereafter I spent some time in Management Consulting, before starting my own Executive Search business with my wife and moving back to the coast in Devon; closer to the ocean, where I belong.
I then completed an MSc in Executive Coaching with Henley Business school, which inspired an even greater journey. I am now a student (once again) on a Doctoral programme at Exeter University to train as a clinical psychodynamic psychotherapist. When I’m not working or studying, I like to spend time with my wife and two young boys, surfing, walking or fishing.
My own lived experiences have shown me the value exploring the depths of my inner world with a skilled professional. I would have been a very different person and lived a very different life without it.
